Sangre de Muerdago is always treading new waters with their beautiful music and true intention. With the themes of the connection and/or separation of civilization and wildness, I have been enamoured since the beginning. This short recording crafts some deep, transformative pieces that will take you on a nocturnal journey of hypnagogic fireflies, if you allow it to.
An old legend says that, once upon a time, there was a firefly living in some beautiful woods far from the noise of the towns of humans.
But in the same forest, there was also a snake, that one day decided to eat the firefly, and for a few days, the snake was chasing her, and the firefly was running away as fast as she could, but without gaining any more distance between her and the snake.
Until at one point, feeling exhausted and hopeless, the firefly turned around and she spoke to the snake, ”Can i ask you three questions?”, to what the snake answered, “I'm not used to concede such a request, but since i'm going to devour you anyway, you can ask those three questions.”
So the firefly proceeded:
-”Am i part of your food chain?” Asked she.
-”No, you are not” said the snake.
-”Have I done any wrong to you?” The firefly asked her second question.
-”No, you haven't” answered the snake.
-”Then, why do you want to kill me?”
-”Because i can't stand to see you shine”.
This EP is dedicated to all those creatures that carry a light inside. A light that shines by itself, pure and honest, and nourished by love and respect. Keep on shining, be yourself, embrace your light, don't let others stop you or slow you down,no matter what they say or do to you, your light is so much more important...
All these songs were written around Summer Solstice 2017. It is during these nights, that we go every year down to the heart of the woods and gaze a unique spectacle in the world, the dance of the fireflies.
7 nights I went this year to the woods, and 7 pieces were composed and arranged for this EP, which i wanted to impregnate with the nocturnal essence of these beautiful glowing creatures, that every year fill up our forests with an ancient magic that sadly, is not very common anymore.

Excellent medieval folk, IGR, & those with ears to hear. I love the sense of mysticism and deep, introspective ponder this album conveys, & the honest down-to-earth folky lyrics. Simply wonderful yet soulfully rich. Highlights for me are tracks 2, 5, 6, & 12. IGR truly capture what I feel is an authentic sense of a medieval bard at a woodland rill pondering the mysteries of life. Highly recommended. 8.5+/10. Alrihkh

Both of Ulvesang's full length albums are beautifully ambient and moody while remaining melodically and rhythmically captivating. As an aspiring guitarist and musician, I wish to write songs in their style one day catégorille
